The Bulkhead Pressure Testing Tube is a transparent acrylic hydrostatic test fixture used for pressure testing threaded bulkhead components, cable penetrators, connectors, blanking plugs, and other subsea hardware. Functionally similar to a small transparent watertight enclosure, it allows components to be mounted at both ends and visually inspected for seal leakage or water ingress after testing.

Each tube is machined from solid transparent acrylic as a single-piece body and is rated for pressure testing to 10 MPa / 1,000m. Standard versions are available in long and short lengths with matching threads at both ends, including M10×1, M14×1.5, 7/16-20 UNF, and 1/2-20 UNF.

The short version helps improve chamber space efficiency during batch pressure testing, while the long version provides additional internal space for cable harnesses, wiring, or longer test assemblies. These tubes are commonly used with compatible water pressure testing chambers, including the Water Pressure Testing Chamber, but may also be used with customer-supplied hydrostatic test chambers when the chamber, test procedure, and installed components are properly rated.

Custom tube sizes, lengths, thread types, and test-fixture configurations may be available upon request for specialized hydrostatic testing setups. Additional lead time and pricing may apply. Please contact Blu-Sub to discuss custom requirements.

This product is a consumable pressure-testing fixture. Inspect the sealing faces and acrylic body before reuse, and do not expose the acrylic tube to alcohol or alcohol derivatives, as these chemicals may cause cracking.

Beskrivelse

The Bulkhead Pressure Testing Tube provides a simple visual method for checking the sealing performance of threaded bulkhead components during hydrostatic pressure testing. Test samples, cable penetrators, connectors, sensors, or blanking plugs are installed into the matching threaded openings at both ends of the tube. The complete assembly is then placed inside a compatible water pressure testing chamber and pressurized according to the customer’s test procedure.

After testing, the tube can be removed from the chamber and inspected for water ingress. Because the body is transparent acrylic, internal leakage is easier to identify than with an opaque fixture. This makes the tube useful for R&D, QA, production screening, and troubleshooting of subsea sealing interfaces.

The long and short versions support different test setups. The Long Version provides more internal space for cable harnesses, wiring, or longer test assemblies. The Short Version reduces occupied volume inside the chamber, which can be useful when testing multiple assemblies or working in limited chamber space.

Each standard version has the same thread type on both ends. Select the tube that matches the thread of the test sample and use matching components or blanking plugs to seal all openings before pressure testing. Any installed test sample, blanking plug, O-ring, connector, cable penetrator, or mating component must be correctly installed and appropriately rated for the intended pressure. The lowest-rated component in the complete test assembly sets the usable pressure limit of the test setup.

The tube is rated for hydrostatic pressure testing to 10 MPa / 1,000m. A maximum pressure reference of 12 MPa is listed for the tube, but the recommended rated-depth reference for product selection and repeated testing should remain 10 MPa / 1,000m unless a specific test procedure and all installed components are confirmed suitable for higher pressure.

Custom versions may be available for specialized test setups, including alternate tube lengths, custom body sizes, and non-standard thread options. Additional lead time and pricing may apply for custom configurations. Please contact Blu-Sub to review your test requirements.

This product is a consumable component. Frequent disassembly, reassembly, and pressure cycling can wear the sealing faces over time. Before each reuse, inspect the end faces for smoothness and inspect the acrylic body for cracks, visible stress marks, chips, or other damage. Continued use should be based on actual inspection condition and test history.

Important: Do not expose the acrylic tube to alcohol, alcohol derivatives, solvents, or incompatible cleaning chemicals. These chemicals may cause acrylic cracking and can make the tube unsafe for pressure testing.

Hydrostatic Test Chamber

Sold Separately

Hydrostatic Test Chamber Required – Sold Separately

The Bulkhead Pressure Testing Tube is designed to be placed inside a compatible water pressure testing chamber after the test samples or blanking plugs have been installed. It is commonly used with compatible water pressure testing chambers, including the Water Pressure Testing Chamber, for hydrostatic testing of underwater and subsea components.

The tube may also be used with customer-supplied hydrostatic test chambers, provided the chamber, installed components, sealing method, and test procedure are all suitable for the intended pressure.

Long and Short Version Selection

Choose the Tube Length Based on Test Setup

The Long Version (270 mm) provides additional internal space for cable harnesses, wiring, longer threaded assemblies, or test samples that require more room inside the transparent acrylic body.

The Short Version (100 mm) helps reduce occupied chamber volume and is useful for batch pressure testing or compact test setups where internal chamber space is limited.

Standard & Custom Thread Options

Multiple Thread Options for Bulkhead Components

Each standard Bulkhead Pressure Testing Tube has the same thread type on both ends. Available thread options include M10×1, M14×1.5, 7/16-20 UNF, and 1/2-20 UNF. Select the version that matches the bulkhead component, cable penetrator, connector, sensor, or blanking plug being tested.

Custom thread options, tube lengths, body sizes, and test-fixture configurations may be available upon request for specialized testing requirements. Additional lead time and pricing may apply. Please contact Blu-Sub to discuss custom options.

All openings must be sealed before pressure testing. Test samples, O-rings, blanking plugs, penetrators, connectors, and related sealing hardware are sold separately unless specifically included with the selected kit.

Transparent Acrylic Inspection Fixture

Visual Leakage Inspection After Pressure Testing

The transparent acrylic body allows the inside of the tube to be inspected after pressure testing. If water is visible inside the tube after testing, the installed sample, plug, seal, or mating interface should be inspected before further use.

Because acrylic can be damaged by repeated disassembly, pressure cycling, impact, or chemical exposure, this product should be treated as a consumable testing accessory.
