Description

The Water Pressure Testing Chamber – 10 MPa / 20 L is a professional-grade hydrostatic testing apparatus constructed from corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel. It allows engineers and technicians to safely simulate water pressures up to 10 MPa—equivalent to a depth of 1,000 meters—making it ideal for validating the pressure integrity of underwater equipment including enclosures, cable penetrators, and connectors.

The chamber includes a manual hydraulic pump, a high-capacity 20 L stainless steel pressure vessel, and a precision-machined hatch cover with 18 penetrator-compatible openings. These ports enable real-time electrical or data connections to devices under test. The hatch cover also features high-strength handles and a rotating lock mechanism with safety ratchets for secure operation during pressure cycling.

The chamber is equipped with quick couplings for easy pressure connections and supports a pressure range of 0–10 MPa with a gauge and pump capable of 0–16 MPa. It includes a steel drip tray to catch discharge and reduce mess, as well as 8 fulcrum wheels to assist with mobility on level ground. Due to its substantial weight (~200 kg), it must be lifted using appropriate mechanical assistance such as a crane.

Operations Guide – Water Pressure Testing Chamber

This pressure testing apparatus’s consumables include: hatch cover sealing rings, water, lubricating grease, plugs, and other components.

There is a designated safety pressure range, and the pressure should not be sustained above 10 MPa. Any convex deformation of the hatch cover under pressure necessitates an immediate cessation of operations.

The chamber is quite heavy, so do not attempt manual lifting. A crane should be used for lifting.

The handles are designed with high load-bearing capacity. After securing the hatch cover in place and installing the safety ratchet, lifting can be initiated.

When the chamber does not need to be moved, position the fulcrum wheels at the step load-bearing positions.

It is essential to have a basic understanding of hydraulic safety before proceeding with any operations.

What tool is used to remove the pressure relief penetrator?
Use a HOP6, which is a double-ended 6 mm hex wrench. (refer to images below)

How to move?
When moving on flat ground, adjust the fulcrum wheels and push directly. If it cannot be moved by pushing, use a crane to lift it by the handles as shown in the picture below. (refer to images below)

Can the drip tray catch all the water from the chamber?
Yes, it can, but avoid submerging the chamber in external water to prevent rusting of the bottom screws.

When the chamber is filled with water, to what level and how many liters of capacity does it reach?
Around 25 L, when the water level is about 20 mm from the top edge. (refer to images below)

If the pressure slightly decreases on the pressure gauge after maintaining pressure for a while, does it mean that water has entered the product?
Not necessarily. In hydraulic systems, pressure naturally decreases over time. For extended holding, close the shutoff valve, and reopen it later to read the pressure. Always open the shutoff valve before releasing pressure via the pressure release valve.

Why do the screws on the chassis rust over time?
The chamber uses high-strength carbon steel bolts (12.9 grade) to withstand pressure, which are prone to rust. Always dry them promptly after exposure to water.

Is operating the manual pressure pump labor-intensive?
It can feel labor-intensive at low pressure. Make sure the shutoff valve is fully open. More effort is required near 10 MPa.

Why can't the manual pressure pump generate pressure?
Check the following:
• All hatch cover penetrators are installed and sealed with O-rings.
• The pressure relief penetrator is in place.
• No visible leaks from hatch penetrators.
• The pressure release valve is closed.
• There’s sufficient fluid in the reservoir.
