DESCRIPTION
The Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – Dummy Sealing Caps are modular dry-mate accessories designed to protect open connectors from water ingress when not actively in use. These components are critical for maintaining watertight integrity in subsea systems during storage, handling, or partial deployments where not all ports are in use.
Dummy Sealing Caps are available in male and female variants, with optional shorting versions for use cases requiring pin bridging or continuity. The shorting versions include internal contacts that may be soldered and sealed with adhesive for specialized wiring configurations.
These sealing caps are fully compatible with Blu-Sub’s Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – Female Sockets & Male Plugs and Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – M10 Bulkheads, completing the modular interface needed for secure, field-configurable underwater assemblies.

Usage of Shorting Dummy Plugs:
The shorting dummy plug has more cores than may be necessary. Depending on requirements, you can solder the ends of the pins, fill them with adhesive, and press them into the locking cap shell. Be careful during shorting to ensure the soldered points do not protrude beyond the outer diameter of the copper pins, preventing contact with the shell.

What are Dummy Sealing Caps used for?
Dummy Sealing Caps are used to protect and waterproof unused Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – Female Sockets & Male Plugs, as well as M10 Bulkheads. They prevent water ingress and pin corrosion when connectors are not in use.
What is the difference between standard and shorting dummy plugs?
Standard dummy plugs provide sealing only. Shorting dummy plugs additionally bridge specific pins internally, which can be used to signal the system or protect open lines.
Are they compatible with all Blu-Sub connectors?
Yes — the Male Dummy Plug is used to seal Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – Female Sockets or M10 Bulkheads, while the Female Dummy Plug seals Deep-Sea Cable Connectors – Male Plugs.
Do they need to be fully inserted before submersion?
Yes — like all dry mate connections, Dummy Sealing Caps must be fully seated before entering the water to maintain waterproof performance.
