Potting applications
Blu-Sub recommends 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ DP270 Black Epoxy Potting Compound for the following potting applications:
- Deep-Sea Cable Connectors - Female Socket & Male Plug – potting the internal cable terminations during assembly of the 3-pin and 6-pin versions.
- Deep-Sea Cable Penetrator – sealing cable pass-through assemblies using the M6, M8, M10, M14 and M16 potted penetrators.
- Subsea M10 Coupling Tube – potting the internal wiring connections for cable extensions and externally mounted components.
- Deep-Sea Cable Connectors - Dummy Sealing Cap – sealing the internal soldered connections when assembling the shorting versions.
Potting with PUR-jacketed cables
Blu-Sub recommends this epoxy for potting assemblies using our Deep-Sea Underwater Cable and Deep-Sea Shielded Data & Power Cable. Both cable ranges feature polyether polyurethane (PUR) outer jackets selected for compatibility with resin potting methods. Match the cable diameter and conductor requirements to the selected penetrator, connector or coupling tube.
The Deep-Sea Cable Connectors - M10 Bulkhead can also form part of a coupling-tube assembly with potted wiring connections. The bulkhead itself is supplied pre-assembled and potted.
Bond performance depends on the cable jacket formulation, surface preparation and curing conditions. Check adhesion to the actual cable jacket, insulation and housing materials, and validate the finished assembly for its intended application.

Typical values from 3M’s May 2026 technical data sheet. *3M defines full cure here as reaching at least 80% of ultimate aluminium overlap-shear strength. Cure time varies with temperature.
Can this product be shipped outside Canada?
No. Sales and shipping are limited to Canada because of the logistical challenges of international shipping.
How is the cartridge dispensed?
Use a compatible 3M EPX applicator. Follow 3M’s technical data sheet for nozzle mixing or hand mixing.
Where are the handling instructions?
Read the 3M Technical Data Sheet and the complete Safety Data Sheet, including Parts A and B, in the downloads below. Use the ventilation and protective equipment specified by 3M. The SDS limits confined-space curing masses to 50 g to avoid excessive heat and smoke. This product is for industrial or professional customers, not consumer sale or use.
