The Subsea M10 Tap Switch is a compact, depth-rated control interface designed for momentary human-machine interaction in underwater systems up to 1,000 meters deep. Housed in black anodized aluminum, it operates as a self-resetting, mechanical magnetic switch — conducting when tapped and disconnecting when released.

Ideal for use with underwater controllers, lights, thrusters, and other low-current devices, it maintains a consistent activation force at all depths. Its internal design helps mitigate false triggering from impact or water flow, and the bulkhead's protective circular step prevents damage to mounting surfaces during installation.

For toggle-based control or high-current loads, pair the switch with the optional Toggle Relay Control Module, which enables on/off latching behavior and safe switching of devices like LEDs or solenoids.

DESCRIPTION

The Subsea M10 Tap Switch is designed for reliable momentary input in underwater control systems, supporting applications such as remote-operated lighting, thrusters, and human-machine interfaces. It features a magnetic mechanical design — not a Hall effect or pressure switch — which ensures consistent triggering behavior across its full 1,000-meter depth rating.

When tapped, the switch briefly conducts and immediately resets once released, making it ideal for signaling input to microcontrollers or low-current logic systems. It is not suitable for directly powering high-current loads without external circuitry. For applications requiring toggled on/off behavior or switching of larger devices, the switch should be paired with the optional Toggle Relay Control Module.

Constructed from black anodized aluminum, the switch is built for durability in harsh underwater environments. Its internal components are sealed to withstand pressure and environmental exposure, with a service life rated for up to 500 activations. The integrated circular step around the hex bulkhead helps prevent installation damage to enclosure surfaces during tightening.

Care should be taken to avoid false triggers caused by impacts or water motion in the same direction as the switch actuation. For improved reliability in such scenarios, signal processing techniques like brief delay filtering are recommended. Minimal maintenance is required, although occasional rinsing may help dislodge debris buildup after use in murky or saline water.

Enable Toggle Control with Relay Module

Sold Separately

This tap switch outputs a momentary signal by default. For toggled on/off behavior, pair it with the compatible Blu-Sub relay module below.

Toggle Relay Control Module
Converts a momentary tap into a latched toggle—tap once to turn a device on, tap again to turn it off. Supports up to 16 A switching current and includes debounce protection, long-press shutoff, and onboard status LED. Available in 12 V and 24 V versions.

Compatible Subsea Enclosure Options

Sold Separately

The Subsea M10 Tap Switch is compatible with a wide range of Blu-Sub enclosures that feature standard M10 mounting ports. Ensure adequate panel thickness and internal clearance for the switch body and wiring when selecting an enclosure.

Subsea Watertight Enclosure Box
Compact aluminum housing rated to 300 m with twenty pre-drilled M10 ports—perfect for quick integration of tap switches, sensors, and other subsea components.

Subsea Enclosure Acrylic Tube
Transparent cast acrylic body rated to 250 m. Use with aluminum end-caps that include M10 ports to accommodate the tap switch and maintain a watertight seal.

Subsea Enclosure Aluminum Tube
High-strength aluminum tube rated to 1,000 m. Combine with compatible end-caps featuring M10 ports for secure installation of the tap switch in deep-water applications.

Compatible with: Subsea M10 Coupling Tube

Sold Separately

The Subsea M10 Coupling Tube provides an external mounting option for the tap switch when direct panel installation is not feasible. It offers internal space for wiring and can be sealed with epoxy to ensure waterproof integrity and additional strain relief. Suitable for modular ROV or AUV systems that require accessible or serviceable control points.

After using it in murky waters for a while, I feel some resistance when tapping the button. Is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. Impurities or salt crystals may accumulate in small crevices. You can soak the switch in warm water and tap it repeatedly to help dislodge any buildup and restore smooth function.

Can this switch handle high-current power sources?
No, it cannot. To control high voltage or high current power sources, you should use MOSFET switches or relays in conjunction with this switch.

Can you provide an electrical schematic for the switch?
No, this is a simple physical on-off switch with no internal electronics. It can be treated as a basic momentary contact closure.

Can this switch be used in shallow water or in the air?
Yes, it is rated for use from 0 to 1,000 meters underwater, and is also fully suitable for use in air.
